Pamplona’s climate is cold but varies from
year to year. In general, it is very nice, but it gets very cold, during
January, even below 35 degrees. Pamplona
is located in a mountain belt . The mountains close to the city are San
Cristóbal, Campamento, Badostáin, Tajonar, Gazólaz, Errakobide ,Santa Lucía and
Cascajo. The Arga, Elorz and Sadar rivers run through Pamplona, and has many
streams that go through it like Santa Lucía, San Macario, Lezkairu, and Garitón
de Ripalda. Pamplona is in the middleof Navarre. It is 23.55 square kilometers
large.
Located next to the Plaza del
Castillo, this mid-XIX building is now the most visible sign of Navarre's
historical identity. The complex, designed in 1840 by José de Nagusia, is home
to the Presidency of the Government and a good number of administrative
departments. It is more commonly known as “Diputación”.
The Citadel and Vuelta del
Castillo, the green belt surrounding the former, are the green lung of and main
reference point in the city. The area consists of 280,000 square metres of
trees and lawns, which intermingle with a construction built between 1571 and
1645 to defend Pamplona. Its pavilions, moats, bastions, ravelins and glacis
are now public leisure, sports and culture areas.
Museo de Navarra, A great
demonstration of the history of pamplona where you can find some great pieces
including goyas the marquis of san adrian this ranges all the way down to roman
mosaics. Cámara de los Comptos,
the city's only surviving example of civilian Gothic architecture. Like the
churches of San Cernin and San Nicolás, many of the building's features are
typical of the transition period from Romanesque to Gothic. The building is
sturdy and with thick stone walls, still minimal decoration and a mix of
semi-circular and pointed arches, vaults and windows. The people in Pamplona
speak mostly Spanish and some speak basque. It is very mixed when it comes to language.
